The scholarship funded by the Federal State of Bavaria is reserved for international students and doctoral students who are registered for regular full-time study programs at the time of application. Scholarships are based on the basis of academic excellence, demonstrable knowledge in the applicant’s field of study, and financial needs. As per the mandated rules and regulations, the funding generally comprises of up to €650 per month for a period of up to ten months.
Application can be sent by students / doctoral students (not the ones on preparatory courses, exchange students, program students) for regular full-time study programs who have not completed their higher education entrance qualification and/ or a German academic degree i.e. Bachelor degree or a Master degree in the Federal Republic of Germany or in a German school in a foreign country; are not entitled to statutory or other financial support (e.g., BAföG); can prove financial need at a rate of €992 per month; have received less than 30 months of funding or three one-year scholarships (regardless of organization providing funding); do not earn more than €695 per month during the duration of the scholarship, above €1.345 earning per month of which may result in no possibility of funding of scholarship. Likewise, there is need to have acquired good grades; should be studying at LMU with outstanding academic achievements in at least the third semester (Bachelor’s, state examination, teaching degree, doctorate or diploma) or from the first semester on wards (Master’s); and have their residence in Germany.
A fully updated and a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV); letter of motivation; fully-filled declaration of financial need; two latest references from two members of LMU teaching staff as mandated, describing the applicant’s academic ability and academic achievements during the study period; proof of transcripts and associated certificates of all completed courses or qualifications; copies of passport and valid residence permit; German bank account; and German tax identification number are generally the requirements for application.
Now, if one is married then a copy of marriage certificate; proof of financial need from spouse; if the spouse is a resident of Federal republic of Germany then a residence registration certificate for the same; spouse’s registration certificate for the current semester if one’s spouse is an LMU student; likewise a birth certificate if one possesses children; if the children are residents of Federal Republic of Germany then a residence registration certificate for children are also needed for the process.
All application documents must be submitted in full and electronically on time. Scholarship will be decided by the International Office Advisory Committees at its annual meeting which will be sent via e-mail to the campus address in late May/ early June informing of the success of the scholarship application.
