What to know if anyone is intending to travel and arrive in France?

A third country national, whether or not the visa is a need, entry into the Schengen area requires compliance with a certain number of conditions stated by the European and national regulations in force.

Documents that needs to to be presented at the request of the Border Police upon arrival to France includes:

# A valid travel document as in the passport that is valid for at least 3 months after the envisaged departure date;

# A valid visa (if required);

# Proof of accommodation covering the entire duration of one’s stay i.e. hotel reservation and/or if one is staying with a relative, then a certificate of staying validated in the town hall;

Note: The amount of resources that must be justified includes:

– In the case of presentation of a hotel booking, requirement is 65 euros per day of stay ;

– In the case of non-presentation of a hotel booking, the requirement is 120 euros per day ;

– In the case of a partial hotel booking, the requirement is 65 euros per day for the period covered by the booking and 120 euros per day for the remainder of the stay.

– If one is hosted by an individual, one must be able to supply a certificate of staying with a relative validated in the town hall at the request of the person who invited the person

* At the border crossing, one must also be able to prove that they have, in addition to this certificate, a minimum amount per day of stay i.e €32.50

# Sufficient financial means to cover the entire duration of one’s stay;

# Proof of return ticket or the financial means to acquire one at the envisaged return date;

# If anyone is on a professional trip and is being expected by someone, then, document evidencing details on the profession or the capacity of the traveler as well as on the establishments or organizations located in France the traveler will be staying should also be shown.

# An insurance certificate to cover all medical and hospital expenses for which one may be liable for the duration of their stay in France, including, just in case in the event of death, medical repatriation costs and expenses.

# Those who are travelers in transit, they must be able to present proof of satisfying the entry conditions in the final destination country i.e. conditions of stay and accommodation during transit, continuation ticket and visa for the destination country.
