PhD degree at this institution offers programs in Engineering, Science, Health Sciences, Humanities, Business and Social Sciences, and is a three-year academic research program where an applicant will have an opportunity to independently carry out a scientific project along with a PhD dissertation and an oral defense. 

English taught programs at this university will require a candidate to fulfill English language proficiency whereas Danish programs may require both Danish and English, or Danish only. TOEFL of 83 with no score less than 20, IELTS of 6.5 with no bands less than 6.5, Cambridge English Qualifications i.e. C1 Advanced (CAE) of a minimum score of  180 and C2 Proficiency (CPE) are the  acceptable tests to provide a proof of English.

For full degree students, tuition fees for many degrees stands at €17,300.

Scholarships are granted based on admissions i.e. no separate applications are needed and are reserved only for a few courses in Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, specifically for non EU/ EEA international students enrolling in one of the following master programs at Sønderborg campus or bachelor programs at Vejle campus. To be eligible for a scholarship in Bachelor programs, the scholarship must be submitted in the mandated time frame as specified by the university and the applicants will be invited based on who has received the highest score in the online admission test (uniTEST). For enrollment in a Master program, GPA scored on the previous Bachelor level qualification is taken into consideration along with an interview. 

The scholarship is generally granted as a full tuition fee waiver and will cover the tuition fee for two years in case of MSc programs or three years in case of BSc programs. The fee waiver, however, covers only 30 ECTS per semester. If the number of courses tends to exceed 30 ECTS, then they are not covered by the fee waiver. 

To maintain the eligibility for scholarship, student, must be able to demonstrate satisfactory academic progress i.e. complete at least 30 ECTS each semester. Failure to make satisfactory progress will lead to the scholarship funding discontinued for the following semester.
