Know about the Canada based University of Prince Edward Island


The only university in the province of Prince Edward Island, Canada, University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is a public university based in Charlottetown founded in 1969 and has been playing a crucial role in the success of the province.

The university is an active member of the international cooperative network i.e. the University of the Arctic, which is focused onto promoting education a d research in the Arctic region. 

UPEI’s runs co-op programs as well offer varied undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees in the areas of arts, business, education, nursing, science, sustainable design engineering, veterinary medicine including Mathematical & Computational Sciences and Climate Change & Adaptation. Currently, the university is in the process of developing a Faculty of Medicine, in association with the Memorial University of Newfoundland.

While the requirements can differ from course by course, but, most undergraduate course requirements asks a candidate to have an IELTS of at least 6.5 with each bands 6.0, PTE of 58, and Duolingo 120 with no score less than 115. Oxford ELLT Test is also accepted and asks an applicant to possess an overall 7 with no component less than 6. For most graduate programs, IELTS of at least 7.0 with each bands 6.5, PTE of 66, Duolingo 120 with no score less than 115 and Oxford ELLT Test of an overall 8 with each component no less than 7 is required to meet the entry requirements of the university.

The university is considered one of the affordable universities in Canada with tuition fees starting from as low as 9,000$CAD per year. Although the university course fees run at an affordable price, the university has still been generous in offering scholarships up to 1500$CAD.

The institution’s commitment towards continuous improvement in the areas of excellence in learning, teaching, research, student- faculty interaction including the administration, technology and operations has made the university one of the popular university amongst international students.
