What all is there to know if one’s partner and children is to accompany the main UK Student VISA applicant to the UK?

Partner and children i.e. the dependents may be able to apply and accompany the main student VISA applicant to stay in the UK. The main student VISA applicant, however, must be either a government-sponsored student starting a course that lasts longer than 6 months; or a full-time student on a postgraduate level course i.e. a PhD, a doctoral or a research based degree level (RQF level 8 or above) that lasts 9 months or longer.

The UK immigration identify a dependent partner or child as either a husband, wife or civil partner; one’s unmarried partner; or one’s child under 18 years old (includes if they were born in the UK during the stay). Evidence of the relationship may be provided by either a marriage or a civil partnership certificate for ones partner; or a birth certificate for one’s child. In addition, the status of the child should show that the child is not married or involved in any sort of civil partnership; and living under the same roof (unless the child is living away from home in full-time education i.e. at university or a boarding school). Documents such as bank statements; credit card bills; driving license; NHS registration document; and an official letter from their university or college also needs to be supplied confirming the address of the dependents.

If the partner and child are applying at the same time along with the main student VISA applicant, then one will need to provide evidence of money to not only pay for the course but as well to support one’s living expenses including that of the partner and child. However, if a partner or a child is applying at a different time than the main student VISA applicant (i.e. applying separately), there is a need to provide evidence of funds only to support themselves. Money to support themselves must be shown at a rate of £845 a month (for up to 9 months) if the student VISA applicant is studying courses inside of London and £680 a month (for up to 9 months) for courses outside London. The money should be held in the bank account for at least 28 consecutive days. Now, if one is in possession of a student loan or financial sponsorship, one will need to provide evidence of this in the form of a loan or sponsorship company. If the loan, however, does not cover the partner or child, one will need to prove that one will have additional money to support their partner and children.

The length of the stay will be the same date the student applicant visa will end.

Proving identity is a must as a part of the application that will make the use of the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check’ app to scan identity document. Likewise, creating or signing into the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account as well having fingerprints and photo (bio metric information) taken at the visa application center is another mandatory aspects of the process for application.
