Core documents needed to apply for a Visitor visa (Temporary Resident Visa) in Canada

A Visitor Visa or a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), is an official document stamped in ones passport by the government of Canada, proving that the candidate meets eligibility requirements for entry in Canada as a tourist, student (short-term), or business visitor. This visa will generally allow one to stay for up to 6 months in Canada.

Requirements for this VISA asks an applicant to possess a valid travel document i.e. a passport; medical examination as in the applicant should be in good health; have no  history of criminal or immigration-related convictions which can be proven in the form of police certificate; as well be able to convince an immigration officer through a letter of intent that one has ties with their respective jobs, home, family, financial assets that is certain to make him/ her leave at the specified duration and get back to one’s home country. A letter of invitation might also be necessary from someone who lives in Canada.

Core haves to apply for the VISA includes;

  • A travel document with copies of all pages and visas (if any traveled history);
  • Itinerary documents evidencing the length of stay one has planned in Canada;
  • A properly signatured and stamped Bank account certificate and statements of 6 months indicating one’s financial history and evidencing the applicant has adequate amount to support oneself during their stay in Canada;
  • IMM 5475 form to release ones personal information to someone chosen who will be able to get information on the applicant’s case file i.e. the status of ones application;
  • IMM 5476 (Use of Representative) form for family members or third parties who apply on behalf of the applicant;
  • Family Information IMM 5645 form which clarifies the applicant’s history of marital status, their dependents, children, siblings and parents.
