An applicant may actually be eligible for a Short-term study visa if one is taking an English language course in the UK. The course, however, must last longer than 6 months not going beyond 11 months and should include no other subjects. Applicant will have to be at least 16 years of age or older to apply; should have been taken that relevant course in an accredited institution; should have adequate money to support themselves without any dependency and likewise capable enough to pay for the return or onward journey. An under 18 applicant should also keep in mind to make proper arrangements for their travel and stay in the UK and likewise also possess consent (in the form of a letter) of a parent or a guardian to study in the UK.
The length of the stay is equal to the length of the study undertaken plus an extra 30 days as long as the stay is no longer than 11 months.
Under this VISA, one cannot study on any other course or change one’s course while in the UK; study at a state-funded school; work or carry out any sort of businesses including paid or unpaid work, job experience or work placements; and extend the visa or bring any dependents or family members on this visa.
The healthcare surcharge generally comes at 776 Pounds and the VISA application cost is £214 for a Short-term study visa.
