McGill Entrance Scholarship Program are designed for new full-time undergraduate students (not applicable for transfer, diploma, mature, exchange, special, part-time and visiting students). The Centrally-administered entrance scholarships are of two types- One-year Scholarships which is non- renewable and valued at $3,000, and the Major Entrance Scholarships which is valued between $12,000 and $48,000 i.e. $3,000 to $12,000 annually and renewable for up to 4 years on the meeting of mandated conditions as specified by the university.

Faculty-specific Entrance Scholarships may also be available for faculties like Music, Dental Medicine & Oral Health Sciences, Law and Medicine. Supplemental funding, on the other hand, can be applicable if one wants additional funding apart from the entrance scholarships and may include McGill Work Study Program, Government Aids or McGill financial aids (bursaries & loans).

Numerous external awards and scholarships are also introduced and available every year from a host of associations, corporations, organizations, and foundations. Students are strongly encouraged to apply for all possible awards in which they best fit as per the regulations of the university.

Anyone acquiring benefit of entrance scholarships will be guaranteed one of their top three choices of residence building, provided they apply by the residence application deadline on a first come first served basis.
