A renowned public research university based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, McGill University is one of Canada’s best known universities for pursuing higher education and is one of the two members in alliance with the Association of American Universities (an organization of research- intensive universities) and is the only Canadian member of the Global University Leaders Forum (GULF) i.e. a group of solution- oriented presidents from the world’s top 29 universities within the World Economic Forum. The institution has a colossal history to be affiliated in producing some of the world’s prominent Nobel Laureates, Supreme Court’s justices, Governors, Prime Ministers, Rhodes Scholars, Turing Awards out of various others.

The 2026 QS World University Rankings has ranked McGill “1st” in Canada and “27th” in the world including positioning itself in the remarkable lists of CWUR World University Rankings, Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Academic Ranking of World Universities including the U.S. News & World Report Best Global University Rankings.

Researchers at McGill university are affiliated with about 75 major research centers and networks, and focused in an extensive array of research partnerships with many other universities, governments and industries in Quebec and Canada, North America and in dozens of other countries. Furthermore, McGill has one of the largest patent portfolios amongst Canadian universities.

For entry into a Graduate program, the institution requires a candidate to acquire at least 3.0 CGPA (out of 4.0) which is at a range of 45% to 59% in the context of a 4 years Bachelor’s degree from Nepal or a 3.2 GPA (out of 4.0) in the last 2 years of full- time studies. This can however differ as per the programs according to the offered graduate program. IELTS of 6.5 or greater or TOEFL (iBT) of 80 with no components less than 20 is needed to suffice the benchmark of proficiency for English language. Credentials and grading equivalencies may be requested by submitting a request form. For Master’s Thesis students, the tuition fees per terms can come at around $9,000 and for Non- Thesis student the fees comes at around $32,000.
