Widely recognized for being one of the affordable and ranked university of United States, Ohio based Wright State University is a widely known public research university and falls in the category of “R2: Doctoral Universities with a High research activity”. The university was originally opened as a branch campus of Miami University and Ohio State university and is an esteemed member of the University System of Ohio.
As of July 2025, Wright State University has been ranked in the top 6.7% out of global universities worldwide and falls in one of the most affordable cities in America. In addition, Dayton has also been named immigrant friendly city making the university one of the most livable and popular university amongst international students.
The university is accredited by Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and offers varied subjects in Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral Degrees. Most of courses delivered are accredited which ensures a student will meet a rigorous standards of quality, learning and professional engagement making him/ her sellable in the global market.
A minimum 0f 2.5 GPA (out of 4.0) is required to submit an application to any undergraduate program. While an English proficiency test requires a student to have either an IELTS score of 5.5 with no sub score less than 5.0; Duolingo of 110; PTE of 51; TOEFL of 61 or SAT with a combined score of 510 on the evidence-based reading and writing portion; some of programs in Engineering, Computer Science and English majors requires a candidate to have a higher English proficiency requirement. A minimum TOEFL of 71 is required and a minimum TOEFL score of 79; IELTS score of 6.5 or a PTE score of 58 is required for anyone wanting to pursue an English major.
Application fee comes at 30$. Scholarships on the other hand are based on the GPA’s secured in the previous high school qualification and can range up to 10,000$ per year making the already reasonable fees more affordable.
