A bit about Finland’s invention and cores needed for a student VISA application/ residence permit

When one is entering Finland for a higher education degree, they will be granted an A permit, that is, a continuous residence permit. Specifically, one should make sure that he/ she meets the requirements for a residence permit before he/ she applies to study in Finland. Students may work in paid employment for a maximum of 30 hours per week on average.

Core documents that should be accumulated for a VISA application are;

  • Passport
  • Last Completed Academic Degrees
  • Application form via “Enter Finland”
  • Certificate of Insurance
  • Proof of adequate finance to cover your first-year tuition fees + living expenses (560 Euros per month)
  • Other supporting documents (as required)

In order to apply for a residence permit, the core documents that must be met are;

  • Proof of registered place of study
  • Certificate of paid tuition fees
  • Certificate of Insurance
  • Proof of adequate finance
  • Form MP 1
  • Electronic Application fee of 350 Euros

After one reach Finland, one should contact the “Digital and Population Data Services Agency” to get a municipality of residence and a personal identity code.
