One of the largest Saskatchewan based institution in Canada, the University of Saskatchewan (U of S, or USask) is one of the most research- intensive Canadian public research university, located in the vibrant east side of the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

The university is prominently known for being the world leader in global issues of water and food security, sustainability, infectious diseases and vaccine development, including environment, animal and health. With distinguished global faculties, state-of-the-art facilities and commendable research activities, the university has been able to house itself as the containment of Canada’s only synchrotron (Canadian Light Source) and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization’s International Vaccine Centre.

For students intending to apply to an undergraduate program- the general requirements of English proficiency test includes IELTS of 6.5 with each bands at least 6.0 / TOEFL of 86 with each bands at least 19 / Duolingo of 110 with each section at least 95 and/ or PTE of 63 with each bands at least 59 needed to get into the program. Generally 80% is required for admission to international students who have studied outside of Canada.

A four year undergraduate degree is generally required to get entry to a Master’s program. Depending on the program, an average of 70% in the last two years of study is required to satisfy the entry requirement into a postgraduate program with a evidence of demonstrated ability to speak, read, write and understand English. IELTS of overall 6.5 with each bands at least 6.0 / TOEFL of overall 86 with each bands at least 19 / Duolingo of 120 with each score of at least 100 and PTE 63 with each sub score of at least 59.

Guaranteed Entrance Scholarships up to 3,000$ CAD are available to international students wanting to pursue an undergraduate degree and are based on an admission average. Renewable entrance scholarship called the Best and Brightest Entrance Scholarships are also available and are awarded based on either academics, leadership and contributions to school and community life. Scholarships are generous with the University also offering Saskatchewan International Excellence Awards valued up to $10,000 CAD and international students will be automatically considered for these awards based on their academic achievements. In addition, International Baccalaureate (IB) Excellence Awards valued up to $20,000 are automatically reserved and available to international students completing a IB Diploma Program as their previous qualification. Transfer awards with 2,500$ CAD are also available to students transferring from selective post-secondary institution and wanting to apply for an admission to the institution.
