Established in 1993, Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), is a public university based in Glasgow, Scotland, originally formed through the merger of The Queen’s College, Glasgow (founded in 1875) and the Glasgow Polytechnic (originally Glasgow College of Technology- GCT founded in the year 1971). One of the largest and as per the Research Excellence Framework (REF) a leading Scotland based modern university (by research power), GCU, is also a leading provider of Graduate Apprenticeships and has a highest proportion of graduates employed in the top skilled occupations. The institution has been recognized as the only Scottish university with EcoCampus Platinum accreditation and ranked first in Scotland for sustainability in the most recent People and Planet league table, including being listed top 10 in the UK for it’s leading impact on social policy research. The university has also made it in the list of the latest Guardian University Guide and has been ranked first in the UK for Social Work, third for Animation and games design and in the top 10 for Marketing and public relations (first in Scotland) and Hospitality, Event Management and Tourism. The institution is Glasgow’s third university, after the University of Glasgow and the University of Strathclyde.
As a part of the application requirement, international students are required to provide proof of English language proficiency tests. IELTS of overall 6.0 with each bands 5.5 and / or PTE of 59 overall and each are generally the language requirements for both the undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program is also available and international students can apply for the same if they can meet the academic entry requirements of 2:1 honors in their previous qualification; provide evidence of language proficiency, majorly with an IELTS of overall 6.5 with no bands less than 6.0; including 5 to 6 years of work experience in a management position. Other requirements for application also asks the candidate to provide the proof of all previously acquired certificates and transcripts, a CV, personal statement, research proposal and references.
While international self-funding postgraduate students from Bangladesh, Canada, Ghana, Kenya, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam, studying a full-time course are eligible for a £3,500 regional scholarship in the form of a tuition fee discount; international undergraduate students can secure scholarships worth up to 2,500 Pounds off for each year of study. Early payment discount of 5% is also available for both UG and PG students if early payment date is met. Research scholarships are also available for students wanting to pursue a PhD program at GCU and covers a maintenance grant, payments of approved fees and dependents’ and other allowances. To be eligible for an award a candidate should normally possess at least an upper second-class honors degree or an equivalent.
