Some of the key points to remember if an individual wants to work and live in Canada after Graduation;

By

One has upto 180 days to apply for a Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) after they graduate. To be eligible, study permit must have been valid at some point during these 180 days. An individual can submit an application to extend their study permit in Canada before their Study Permit has expired including no decision has been made on their application.

Confirmation on the followings must be needed to apply for the Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) which includes;

· The full name of the program

· The total length of the program (Program months should be minimum of 8 months or plus or 900 hours or longer)

Note: The Student should have maintained a full time status as a Student during each semester of the program; exceptions includes, studying part time in the final semester, taking approved leaves from studies or conditions related to COVID19.

· Attendance and completion of the relevant program at a dli (Designated Learning Institution) meeting the relevant program requirements

A graduate can confirm these by submitting the followings;

§ Evidence of a degree or diploma

§ Evidence of transcript or

§ An official letter from the institution one has attended

Now,

If a Study Permit is to expire before a student get their marks, that individual can have 2 options;

I.) He/ she can either apply for a visitor record to stay longer in Canada or

II.) Leave Canada and apply for their PGWP

If one is staying in Canada and has his/ her permit expire, one must apply to restore their status as a Student to apply for their postgraduation WORK PERMIT VISA (PGWP) with the payment of additional fees.
