Settlement Permit or Residence Permit in Germany can be granted for at least five years on the German territory. Generally, half the time spent as a student in Germany will be recognized for the purposes of calculating this period of time.

Core evidences required to obtain the permit are;

• Sufficient financial resources to support oneself and ones dependents;

• Health insurance;

• Adequate housing/ accommodation;

• 60 months of social security contributions (or equivalent contribution to a private scheme);

• Possess the right to work or be self-employed;

• Sufficient knowledge of the German language and basic civic knowledge.
