What is a research degree?
It’s an advanced program of study allowing an individual to investigate a topic of relevance to their work/ field of study. Many Master by Research students choose to continue with their research in order to obtain a full-fledged PhD degree. However, in order to do that, students are required to produce a thesis of no more than 50,000 words that demonstrates their capacity for critical analysis and application of specialist knowledge.
Purpose of the degree: An individual will learn to apply advanced research methodologies to produce new knowledge and provide live solutions to real challenges.
Supervision: A student will have to take supervision under researchers who are leaders in their fields.
Various Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) scholarships and the Graduate Research Scholarship (GRS) are also awarded throughout the year to high quality international candidates in order to financially support their journey towards taking the degree.
