The 1996 General Act for University Education and the 1975 University Organization Act are generally responsible for rendering legal frameworks for tertiary education including overseeing education at the university level.

Some important pointers to remember to apply for a student Visa to Austria;

· Admission restrictions and procedures will be decided by individual universities for courses like medical, veterinary, dentistry, psychology, journalism and communication

– Documents ought to be submitted in original and German translation publicly authenticated in the originating country and last authenticated by the Austrian representation in that country.

Note:

Any student from a citizen of a third country is entitled to work for 20 hours per week (without a labor market test); likewise can also apply for a employment permit as per the Act Governing the Employment of Foreign. Subject to the completion of intended course of study, one will also have the option to switch from the student residence permit to Red-White-Red Card. Upon graduation, one has the opportunity to file for a renewal (one-time) of residence permit for a period of twelve months to look for a job search or to start a business.
